Opening Night of The Shirelles @ The RRazz Room (Photo Credit: Pat Johnson)

Call it serendipity: The Shirelles featuring Legendary Original Member & Co-Founder Beverly Lee were dressed in gold gowns for opening night at The RRazz Room. Prior to the show, I introduced Beverly Lee to Ron Lando, CliC CEO, and Hugh Power, Designer of CliC-Gold. The events that followed were truly unexpected, and I am thankful that we were able to capture it on video.

The Shirelles feat. Legendary Original Member & Co-Founder Beverly Lee

Beginning as New Jersey schoolgirls, The Shirelles quickly became rock & roll's first female super group and were the inspirations for a legion of female groups that followed. They are universally credited as the originators of the Girl Group Sound that is so beloved by the Baby Boomer generation. Their long string of hits, including “Soldier Boy,” “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow,” “Dedicated To The One I Love,” “Mama Said,” and so many others, have been recorded by hundreds of artists, including The Beatles, Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton & The Yardbirds, The Mamas & the Papas, Bernadette Peters and Smokey Robinson.

Since their 1958 debut at the New York's legendary Apollo Theater, The Shirelles have graced virtually every important stage in the world, countless supper clubs, discos, state fairs, hotel ballrooms and casinos.
They continue to thrill audiences worldwide with their high-energy show, An Evening With The Shirelles, that includes their many hits interspersed with a wide range of selections from pop, rock and soul to standards, gospel and country, mixed with spirited dancing and comedy, all done in the inimitable style that millions of fans have come to expect of the legend that is The Shirelles.

What are some of your all-time favorite lyrics? Please feel free to share yours!

Earlier this afternoon, I had a meeting with a radio account manager, and he mentioned a contest wherein listeners sent in their all-time favorite lyrics. When he shared his lyrics with me, my response was, "How chivalrous!"

Prince and Sade are my musical yin and yang. Sade's "HAUNT ME" lyrics are perhaps one of my all-time faves, because there is so much beauty in its simplicity.

haunt me
in my dreams
if you please
your breath is with me now and always
it's like a breeze

so should you ever doubt me
if it's help that you need
never dare to doubt me

and if you want to sleep
i'll be quiet
like an angel
as quiet as your soul could be
if you only knew
you had a friend like me

so should you ever doubt me
if it's help that you need
never dare to doubt me

Thinking out loud....

As JFM Presents, LLC approaches its five-year anniversary on October 1, 2011, I have so many things to do before my website goes back online.  As I look around my home/office, I see separate "piles," which I plan to work on today.  Instead of having one of those "Deer in the headlights" days, I choose to spend X amount of time on each task.  First thing on my list:  laundry :)

If you are off today, have big fun.

If you're working, like me, work hard; but when the day is done, play harder!

Friends on and off stage, D'Agostino and Lacy have built an organic but structured piece of "Cabaret Theatre" showcasing not only D'Agostino's masterful vocalizations - but his quick demand of the stage. Lacy, a highly sought after musical director - creates a lush landscape in which the listener nods carefully along, note by note, from medley to medley with magical transition. Part history lesson, part Torch Song 101 - the music spans from the Early Harlem Renaissance to modern-day blue eyed soul (with a little Madonna to boot!). More...

FORTUNE FEIMSTER

Fortune Feimster, the loveable Southern comic with great hair and an even better personality, moved to Los Angeles in 2003 to pursue comedy after graduating Summa Cum Laude from Peace College in North Carolina. But first she made a pit stop in Sevilla, Spain for a year where she taught English, studied Spanish, and backpacked all over Western Europe. Even in a place where people spoke a different language, Fortune was able to tap into the universal gift of laughter.
Upon arriving to L.A., Fortune became a columnist for Beck/Smith Hollywood and wrote for such outlets as the Creators Syndicate, netscape.com, and the NY Daily News. Having studied acting in college, she decided to take an improv class for fun, but soon a budding comedian was born! She has since taken the Los Angeles comedy scene by storm and last year made her national TV debut on NBC's "Last Comic Standing" where she finished as a semi-finalist. Now Fortune is a full-time writer and performer on the E! Network's popular "Chelsea Lately" show.

Ottmar Liebert harnesses the emotional fire and mournful tonalities of traditional Flamenco music, updates it with the subtle rhythms of Jazz and makes it widely accessible with the melodic song structures of Pop. The acoustic guitarist summed it up with the apt comment that Nouveau Flamenco is to the traditional variety what Bossa Nova is to Samba. But even the cleverest formulas are worthless without the animating spark of genius, a quality for which there is no formula, only serendipity.

EMMY AWARD WINNING STAR OF TV'S "WILL & GRACE"
BRAND NEW HOLIDAY SHOW - SAN FRANCISCO PREMIERE!
Somewhat of a departure from Jordan's usual autobiographical style, "Deck Them Halls, Ya'll" is an evening of characters lamenting or celebrating the Christmas season. Jordan goes full out on this one with costumes and music. In his words, "Honey, it's a dog and pony show!" "Deck Them Halls, Ya'll!" is both scream out loud funny and life affirming while rolling to a very, very surprising conclusion.
