FORTUNE FEIMSTER

Fortune Feimster, the loveable Southern comic with great hair and an even better personality, moved to Los Angeles in 2003 to pursue comedy after graduating Summa Cum Laude from Peace College in North Carolina. But first she made a pit stop in Sevilla, Spain for a year where she taught English, studied Spanish, and backpacked all over Western Europe. Even in a place where people spoke a different language, Fortune was able to tap into the universal gift of laughter.
Upon arriving to L.A., Fortune became a columnist for Beck/Smith Hollywood and wrote for such outlets as the Creators Syndicate, netscape.com, and the NY Daily News. Having studied acting in college, she decided to take an improv class for fun, but soon a budding comedian was born! She has since taken the Los Angeles comedy scene by storm and last year made her national TV debut on NBC's "Last Comic Standing" where she finished as a semi-finalist. Now Fortune is a full-time writer and performer on the E! Network's popular "Chelsea Lately" show.

Sun, 11/13, 7pm

Ottmar Liebert harnesses the emotional fire and mournful tonalities of traditional Flamenco music, updates it with the subtle rhythms of Jazz and makes it widely accessible with the melodic song structures of Pop. The acoustic guitarist summed it up with the apt comment that Nouveau Flamenco is to the traditional variety what Bossa Nova is to Samba. But even the cleverest formulas are worthless without the animating spark of genius, a quality for which there is no formula, only serendipity.

German-born composer/guitarist, Nouveau Flamenco (Traditional Flamenco + Jazz + Pop)

Both Downbeat and Record World have named her "Best Female Singer," and many have compared her range, class and swing that of to eternal jazz lights like Sarah Vaughan, Dinah Washington, and Nancy Wilson. But she's also been called a "soul legend," both before and after her successful detour into disco. Given her 40-year boundary-busting career, such labeling confusion is inevitable.
